A quality wine that stands the test of time - December 2023

“We head to the Vicenza area to discover instead two wines from a winery that has an excellent relationship with time: Le Pignole. The Veneto RedSoastene2005 Made from Cabernet Franc and Carmenère, it has a highly elegant bouquet with notes of walnut husk and green pepper, just as interesting as the Merlot from the same winery – though the year 2006 – which stands out on the nose for its notes of tomato leaf and chocolate, and is lively on the palate, with an acidity that still has a bit of a bite.”

Eight highly recommended wineries – May 2024

“And then the bubbles from a premier pioneer winery, Le Pignole of Brendola, with which we open our tastings.

THE PIGNOLE – BRENDOLA (VI)

The Le Pignole winery is situated in the Brendola hills, at the entrance to the Berici Hills, and has been owned by Serena and Claudio Vanzo since 2017, supported by their children Micaela and Thomas. It is a family-run business whose premises span three levels, covering an area of around 1,000 square metres, and is surrounded by three hectares of vineyards, as well as land set aside for livestock, pasture and fruit trees.
The range of wines produced includes, in addition to the Colli Berici “Torengo” – our Top Hundred 2006 – some very interesting sparkling wines. Among the wines we tasted, the “Fureghin” extra dry sparkling wine” Made from red grapes, it has a full ruby colour, a rich, fruity nose with hints of red apple and rose. On the palate it is fresh, tannic, slightly off-dry. Equally interesting is the “Don Mario” Garganega Brut Sparkling Wine” Straw-coloured with a delicate, crisp nose that immediately brings to mind exotic fruit. The lingering acidity on the finish makes it a pleasure to drink. It just keeps getting better.”

Excellent tastings at the June wine event – June 2024

“Finally, the surprise of the Colli Berici Extra Dry Tai Rosso Sparkling Wine “Rosa dei Berici” signed by the winery Le Pignole in Brendola (Vicenza). This is a wine with a lovely antique pink colour; on the nose it is very spicy with a smoky, almost sulphurous note that perfectly evokes the volcanic soil from which it originates. On the nose, however, a sweetness already comes to the fore, which we find on the palate too, in a slightly sweet, smooth and velvety mouthfeel.”
